The situation
BizWorth prepares certified business valuations for owners of privately held companies. An informational valuation took about six business days to produce, and every one ran through manual quotes, invoices, and analyst time. The firm wanted a product advisors could offer their own clients: a business owner starts a valuation online at any hour, gets a free summary right away, and can buy a detailed report of 50+ pages.
The requirements list was long. Every screen had to carry the advisor's brand, down to their logo, colors, photo, and contact details. Financial data had to come in four ways: tax-return uploads, QuickBooks, CSV files, and manual entry. The platform had to work for a single advisor, a multi-advisor firm, and eventually national organizations with thousands of members. And when a business needed deeper analysis, it had to hand that owner to BizWorth's certified appraisers.
One requirement shaped the build more than the rest. Valuations had to come from structured valuation models and third-party market data, not from AI-generated estimates. When an owner, a lender, or an attorney is going to act on the number, the method behind it has to be explainable.
What we built
Leanware designed and built BizWorth Express from January to September 2026 with a team of six to ten people. The scope had two layers: the valuation experience business owners see, and the infrastructure behind it for reports, accounts, branding, payments, and team access.
From intake to advisor follow-up
A business owner arrives through an advisor's branded page, submits financials through whichever intake method matches their records, and gets a complimentary valuation summary on the spot. From there they can pay online for the full report, which the platform generates under the advisor's brand. The advisor gets a qualified lead, and nobody at BizWorth has to write a quote or send an invoice.
Valuation models, not estimates
The valuation logic applies structured valuation models and third-party market data. Turning those financial models into software a non-specialist can get through was the core engineering problem, and it is the part Dan Darby, BizWorth's Managing Director, singled out in his Clutch review. The product also uses AI in very specific places where deterministic behaviour is not needed.
Built for the next customer tier
Accounts and team access were designed for firms, not only for individual advisors, so the same platform can grow toward the national organizations BizWorth plans to serve. In Dan's words, the team "anticipated administrative and operational challenges that could arise as the platform scaled."
How the team worked
The platform is built with Next.js, React, NestJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, Python, and AWS, with Stripe and QuickBooks integrations. Delivery ran on Leanware's AI-augmented methodology: AI agents for technical planning, coding, QA, and code review work from the same ticket queue as the engineers, and a person signs off at every business decision (scope alignment, test quality, merge, and acceptance). The agents take the repetitive steps; the calls that decide whether the product is right stay with the team and the client.

BizWorth Express launched and started proving the business model within weeks. In roughly the first month, 52 users enrolled in the Starter plan and seven converted to paid subscriptions, a paid conversion rate of about 13.5%.
The bigger change is production time. An informational valuation that used to take about six business days now generates within seconds once the owner submits the required information. That removed most of the quote-and-invoice work, cut analyst involvement, and let BizWorth serve more business owners without adding staff.
Demand moved too. Requests for demos and sample reports went up, and several prospects who knew BizWorth but had never bought from it got in touch once a faster, lower-cost option existed. Dan was clear that it is still early for mature revenue figures. The seven paid subscriptions are the first proof that advisors will pay for the platform.
What we would do differently
Dan named two things, and both are fair. Bringing in a dedicated design partner earlier, to shape the user experience before development started, would have settled some workflows sooner and saved revisions later. And agreeing up front on how milestones, deliverables, and payments line up would have made budgeting and progress tracking more predictable. Both belong in the discovery phase, before the build begins. That is the job of Leanware's Sprint 0: it ends with a milestone plan in which every milestone carries acceptance criteria and a billing amount, agreed before development starts.
"What impressed us most was Leanware’s ability to understand and translate complex financial models into a functional, user-friendly platform."

Engagement FAQ
How much does business valuation software development cost?
BizWorth placed this engagement in Clutch's $200,000 to $999,999 band, for a build of about nine months with a team of six to ten people. The biggest cost drivers are the number of data intake methods, how many account tiers the platform supports (single advisor, multi-advisor firm, national organization), and whether every report carries white-label branding. The way to control the number is to fix scope before the build: Sprint 0 prices the build against a defined scope before you commit to it.
Should business valuation software use AI to produce the valuation?
Not for the number itself. BizWorth Express applies structured valuation models and third-party market data, so every figure traces back to a method an appraiser can explain. The platform uses AI in specific places, but the number an owner, lender, or buyer acts on should come from a model you can defend.
Can a business valuation platform be white-labeled for advisors?
Yes. BizWorth Express runs every step under the advisor's own logo, colors, photo, and contact details. It captures the lead through a complimentary valuation summary and sells the full report online, so advisors get a lead source and report revenue without preparing reports themselves.
