Cutting IoT platform report times from minutes to seconds

The situation

Ibisa had spent five years building an IoT platform, and its biggest user complaint was speed: database queries behind logging and reporting were slow enough to be a real product problem. The team needed the queries fast without rebuilding the platform around them.

What we built

Two Leanware engineers worked on the software architecture and the query paths behind the platform’s logging and reporting, restructuring how the database work was done rather than adding hardware. The engagement ran on Jira and standard scrum ceremonies alongside the in-house team.

Outcome

  • Database logging tasks reduced from 5 minutes to 20 seconds

  • Report speed complaint resolved, leading to a continued engagement

Database logging tasks went from five minutes to 20 seconds. Report speed, the platform’s largest standing user complaint, improved to the point that Ibisa returned to scope additional projects. The client’s Clutch review credits the team with thinking about what users were facing rather than about the technology itself, and scores 5.0 across all categories.

"Leanware’s work has impacted us in a positive way."
