The situation

Omnicon is a manufacturing-automation consultancy in Cali, Colombia, with 250+ engineers across active projects. Managing structured teams, billing cycles, and business-process reporting through a low-code tool worked when the company was smaller; at the current scale, the low-code surface was the bottleneck.

The brief was a custom platform — internally branded Kairos — that owned project and team management end-to-end, with billing and reporting built in rather than bolted on.

What we built

The engagement is an AI Product Engineering build that has continued from August 2018 onward. Team composition is one full-stack engineer, one UI designer, and one project manager, with the platform growing as Omnicon's operation has.

Kairos covers project and team management end-to-end: activity assignment, monitoring, and the reporting layer project leaders, engineers, and developers use to coordinate. Billing and business-process features sit inside the same platform so operational reporting and financial reporting share a data model.

Tech stack: Angular on the frontend, Node.js with Knex.js and Objection.js on the backend, MySQL for storage. Component design was deliberately scalable so the platform could absorb the addition of new reporting surfaces and chart types without a rebuild.

Outcome

  • Custom platform replaced the low-code tool that was the operational bottleneck

  • In production since August 2018, ongoing engagement

Kairos became the unified platform Omnicon uses to organize its business processes. Diego Paz, Digital Transformation Lead at Omnicon, has been on record on Clutch describing the support and the partnership. The engagement remains ongoing.

"They offer great support."
